The climate change crisis is real. The world is heating up at an alarming rate, and if it continues at this frequency, global temperatures will reach abnormally high temperatures that can't support our planet. Just check out these disturbing stats:
- Sea levels are expected to rise in the next century by 26-28cm.
- 21.5 million people have been displaced because of climate change since 2008.
- Fourteen of the hottest days (temperatures reaching beyond 50 degrees Celsius) on record occurred in the last 16 years.
At the current rate of deforestation, its estimated 5-10% of tropical forest species will become extinct every decade.
- Every hour, 1,692 acres of productive dry land becomes desert.
- 27% of coral reefs worldwide have been destroyed. If this rate continues, the remaining 60% will be gone in 30 years.
- We have a garbage island floating in the ocean, primarily plastics - the size of India, Europe and Mexico combined!
