It is estimated that over 20,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in Australia every single year and that there is a 1 in 15 chance of being diagnosed with the disease by the age of 85. This increases to 1 in 8 for women.
In the last 30 years, there have been significant breakthroughs and progress in treatments, with the survival rate increasing by 70% over this time. However, around 800 women will still lose their lives each year to women’s cancer.
The only way to keep improving these figures and work towards a cancer-free future is through lifesaving research, prevention programs and support services. But none of this is possible without the necessary funding.
