We need your help to fight cancer in Australia

Cancer is one of the leading causes of illness and death in Australia. The five most common cancers, prostate, breast, bowel, melanoma and lung cancer, account for about 60% of diagnoses.

Around 150,000 Australians are diagnosed every year with some form of cancer, and sadly, around one-third of them will lose their lives. Of the people diagnosed, about 700 to 800 are children.

Despite breakthroughs in early detection and prevention, around 25,000 more people die each year from cancer compared to 30 years ago due to population growth and the ageing population. As many as 1 in 2 Australians will experience cancer by the age of 85.

The amazing researchers in Australia and around the world have made huge leaps forward in how we treat cancer, resulting in the death rates falling by 24% in the same period.
